ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – A blast was heard at a rally in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa on Saturday following a speech by the country’s new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, a Reuters witness said.
The rally was being held in support of the 41-year-old leader, who took office in April.
“It was a grenade. Someone tried to hurl it to the stage where the prime minister was in,” Seyoum Teshome, a member of the organizing committee, said.
